Celebrating 16 Years of Intelligent Movement
The home of Pilates in Guildford
Since 2010, our commitment to delivering exceptional Pilates education has remained unchanged.
Our story
Guildford Pilates Place was founded on a simple belief: movement should be intelligent, purposeful, and grounded in understanding - not just effort.
Since 2010, we’ve helped people discover what their bodies are truly capable of when guided with science-based instruction, personalised attention, and genuine care.
Today, under the leadership of Elli Winter, our studio continues to evolve while remaining true to the principles we began with. Many of our clients have been with us since the beginning - a reflection of the trust, transformation, and lifelong benefits that intelligent movement delivers.
Our philosophy: whole-body health
The Intelligent Movement difference
While many approaches focus on feeling a burn or simply working harder, we focus on understanding. Inspired by Joseph Pilates' vision of whole-body health, we believe true performance - whether in sport, everyday life, or aging well - comes from intelligent, informed movement.
Every session is an education. You'll learn:
- Why specific movements support your body's unique needs
- How to recognise and correct imbalances and inefficient movement patterns
- When to safely challenge yourself and when to modify
- What your body requires to stay strong, capable, and active for life
What sets us apart
Beyond Exercise - It's Education
Our instructors teach you to understand your body’s unique movement patterns and needs, creating lasting transformation rather than short-term fitness gains.
Quality Over Quantity
With class sizes capped at 5 for reformer, 6 for barre and 8 for mat, you receive the focused attention you deserve. Your instructor knows your name, your history, your challenges, and your goals.
Evidence-Based Practice
Our team stays current with the latest movement science, ensuring every session reflects up-to-date knowledge in biomechanics, fascia, motor learning, and neural patterning.
Meet Elli Winter - Studio Director
Elli has been part of Guildford Pilates Place for more than 10 years and became Studio Director in 2025. A fully comprehensive Polestar Pilates practitioner, she is certified across all Pilates equipment and is committed to elevating movement through evidence-based practice.
Guided by the belief that Pilates is the pathway to whole-body health rather than simply exercise, Elli specialises in rehabilitation and helping clients reconnect with their bodies. Her work is enriched by additional training in myofascial anatomy, neurological rehabilitation, and women's health. Since 2017, she has also been a mentor for Polestar Pilates UK's teacher training programmes.
